ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THESE CONTROLLERS?
The original Waiter's Landing Gear Controller (LEFT) works great and is currently installed on my LongEZ.
The controller uses an industrial Programable Logic Controller (PLC) Model # D0-06DR-D
from Automation Direct.
The firmware, written in PLC "Ladder Logic", integrates most alarming and control features required by LongEZs that have these complex systems installed.
For example, one feature of the original controller is the ability to retract the Speed brake whenever the throttle is in the FULL position. Although this is a nice feature, most LongEZ's don't utilize an electric speed brake.
The only thing I don't like about my current controller is its physical size.
I've been asked if I'll be making Waiter's Landing Gear Controller available to the public. The answer is yes. HOWEVER, Before you jump up and start writing a check, I'll let you know about a secret project I've been working on.
THE SECRET PROJECT
I'm working on several models for both, the LongEZ (nose retracts) AND Regular Tricycle type aircraft (All three retract).
These new models are based on a smaller and simpler version of the LE1.
The LE2 is used for an Infinity Gear,
the LE-Berkut is a version that controls the Berkut landing gear.
LE-2
The biggest differences between these two controllers is the LE2 is used with the Infinity Gear specificately, the need to compress the struts prior to retracting the gear. If the strut does NOT need to be compressed, (Cozy IV) then the LE-Berkut model should be used.
The LE2 does NOT support the retraction of the Speed brake. The Speed Brake would need to be wired seperately from the controller.
LE-Berkut
The LE-Berkut model should be used on gear systems that don't need to compress the strut, i.e. Cozy IV, Berkut, Tony's Custom Gear, etc.
This controller supports the retraction of the speed brake as part of the controller.

BEHOLD - SEVERAL NEW MODELS
So, I'm working on a simpler version of "Waiter's Landing Gear Controller". I'm calling it "Model LE-2" These models uses a smaller (about 1/2 the size) PLC (RIGHT)
Model # D0-05DR-D
from
Automation Direct. However, the firmware for this model still retaines most of the features as my original "Model LE-1"
This controller is designed for a Canard type aircraft that utilizes an independent electric (or manual) nose gear system.
COMMON FEATURES:
* Power up self test that protects against switches in "illegal" positions (i.e. switch in "RETRACT" position when airplane is parked on the ramp)
* Stringent Interlocks to prevent accidental gear retraction.
* One switch "UP-OFF-DOWN" handles both the mains and the nose gear, Including allowing nose gear extension / retraction while on the ground.
* Modified Infinity Gear Strut compression algorithm (LE-2)
* Alarm monitor for CANOPY OPEN when taking off
* Alarm monitor for GEAR NOT DOWN when landing
* Alarm MUTE disables the ALARM for 10 seconds (Does NOT disable the Canopy alarm)
* EMERGENCY RETRACT - Covered switch overrides ALL safeguards and retracts the gear.
* Emergency electrical MAIN and NOSE Gear extension bypasses the controller.
* Emergency electrical Strut extension bypasses the controller (LE-2).
OK, So how do you get it:
If you wish to use these controllers, I'll make the firmware available to you, WITH CONDITIONS.
1) The documentation that I provide is of sufficient detail that a person with basic electrical installation skills should be able to connect the PLC and the interfaces. You can review the ELECTRICAL DIAGRAMS here, and review Waiter Landing Gear Controller MANUAL here.
I believe its easier to install this system, than to install the systems it will be replacing. However, this is a complex system, if you are not comfortable with how this system is installed or operated, then please do not proceed.
2) Because I have ZERO control over the end use, how its wired, the quality of installation materials or workmanship. I simply cannot supply any HARDWARE warranty.
3) You must sign a release of liability.

1) Send me your PLC (D0-05DR-D) AND Input card (D0-10ND3), I will test it, if OK, I will flash the program into memory, then retest it, and mail it back to you. ($50+ postage)
2) I will supply you with the PLC (D0-05DR-D) AND Input card (D0-10ND3) that has been flashed and tested. ($250 + postage)
3) PLC, Relays w/pigtails (6), Momentary DTDT Center OFF Switch (1), starter relays (2), Diodes ($350 + postage)
